Gorillas, belonging to the genus Gorilla, are ground-dwelling, predominantly herbivorous apes that inhabit the forests of central Sub-Saharan Africa. They are the largest living primates and are highly intelligent, displaying a range of complex behaviors. Gorillas are divided into two species and either four or five subspecies. They are known for their incredible strength, social structures, and critical role in their ecosystems, particularly through seed dispersal. Sadly, all Gorilla subspecies are critically endangered, facing threats from habitat loss, poaching, and disease.
